Bacon and ham, with tomato, peppers, onions and great northern beans make for a terrific soup.
Ingredients
Directions
- In large kettle cook bacon until crisp. Remove and drain. reserve 2 tablespoons of bacon grease.
- Cook ham, onion and green peppers in bacon grease until tender.
- Add tomatoes, water, brown sugar, vinegar, and dash of salt.
- Bring to boil. Reduce heat, add bacon and simmer covered 10 minutes.
- Reserve 2 cups beans and mash others.
- Add all beans to soup and heat well.

Family really enjoyed this. We used a Stevia blend of brown sugar and Stevia, and used apple cider vinegar. Used bean broth for the water.. Used the juice in the canned tomatoes, no salt.
